Motorcycle being prepared for transport

A little preparation before pickup makes your bike's journey safer and faster, and it makes any insurance claim much easier. Follow this 12-step checklist before the movers arrive.

1. Wash the bike

A clean bike makes existing scratches and dents easy to spot during the joint inspection.

2. Take photos

Photograph all sides, the tank, the fairings, the odometer and any existing damage. Date-stamped photos are best.

3. Reduce fuel to under 1 litre

A near-empty tank is a safety requirement for transport and also reduces weight.

4. Remove accessories

Take off helmets, saddle bags, tank bags, phone mounts, GPS units and anything loose.

5. Fold or remove the mirrors

Mirrors break easily. Our crew packs them separately.

6. Check the battery

For long transits, disconnecting the battery prevents drain. For EVs, keep the charge at 30–50%.

7. Check tyre pressure

Correctly inflated tyres keep the bike stable on the carrier.

8. Check for leaks

Tell the crew about any oil or coolant leaks so they can protect other vehicles on the carrier.

9. Disable alarms

Turn off security alarms so they don't go off during transit.

10. Keep documents ready

Keep copies of the RC, insurance and your ID proof. See our documents guide.

11. Note the odometer reading

Record it on the inspection report.

12. Hand over a key and sign the report

Read the inspection report carefully before signing, and keep your copy.

Pro tip: Record a short video walk-around of your bike at pickup. It is the best evidence for any claim.
