Gurgaon To Ranchi Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies
Ranchi is the capital of Jharkhand, and government staff, HEC and mining-sector employees as well as NIT students move here from Gurgaon.
The road distance is about 1,245 km and the usual transit is 4–6 days from the day the carrier leaves Gurgaon. Add a day at either end for pickup and for the delivery appointment, and you have the real timeline. The route normally follows NH19 through Varanasi and Dhanbad, then south through Hazaribagh.
| Road distance | About 1,245 km |
|---|---|
| Standard transit | 4–6 days |
| Express transit | 2–4 days |
| Starting price (commuter bike) | ₹5,100 onwards |
| Pickup | Gurgaon and the rest of NCR (Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) |
| Delivery | Door delivery in Ranchi and nearby areas |

Why the timing changes
The Hazaribagh ghat section is narrow and slow, and monsoon rain makes the last 100 km take longer.
Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:
- How often carriers leave for Ranchi. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
- Season. Winter fog on the Uttar Pradesh stretch and monsoon flooding between July and September are the two seasons that stretch delivery dates.
- Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from inside Gurgaon's sectors is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
- Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.
Pickup from Gurgaon: what to expect
Most Gurgaon bookings begin in a society or a company campus. Common starting points are Udyog Vihar, Sector 14, South City, Nirvana Country and Manesar. A pre-informed guard saves an hour at the gate.
Vehicles for Ranchi usually leave Gurgaon through Faridabad and Palwal and join the Agra corridor, a little shorter than starting from Delhi. Office-hour traffic on Golf Course Road and at Hero Honda Chowk is heavy, which is why morning pickups are the easiest.

How to shift my Bike from Gurgaon! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Gurgaon To Ranchi
There are really only three options. Here is how each one works out on this route.
1. Door-to-door by covered carrier
The crew comes to you, wraps the bike, ties it down inside a covered body, and delivers to your Ranchi address. A commuter bike runs about ₹5,100 to ₹7,000, with 4–6 days on the road. You only need to be present at pickup and at delivery. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.
2. Railway parcel
Possible, but slow. The bike goes by parcel train from a Gurgaon station, and you collect it at Ranchi. Packing is on you, the tank must be nearly empty, and transit depends on which trains run that week, so it can take longer than a carrier. If the parcel office at Ranchi cannot take two-wheelers, you are stuck, so ask first. See our train vs truck comparison.
3. Ride it yourself
1,245 km is 4 days of riding at a comfortable pace, and 3 nights on the road. Fuel is around ₹2,650 for a commuter bike (about ₹3,950 for a 350cc Royal Enfield). Toll is free for bikes, but hotels, food and a return ticket are not. It works if you want the trip. It does not work if you are in a hurry or the bike is new and still running in.

For most people moving house or job, the covered carrier is the one that makes sense. We handle everything from motorcycles and scooters to Royal Enfield and sports bikes.
Gurgaon To Ranchi Bike Transport Costs in 2026: What You’re Really Paying For
Prices below are what most customers pay on this route. They are ranges because the same cc can mean different weight and handling, and because carriers price by the week's load.
| Bike type | Price range (incl. GST) | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Scooter / moped (up to 125cc) | ₹4,700 – ₹6,200 | 4–6 days |
| Commuter bike (100–160cc) | ₹5,100 – ₹7,000 | 4–6 days |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser (350–650cc) | ₹6,100 – ₹8,550 | 4–6 days |
| Sports bike (300cc+) | ₹9,700 – ₹13,550 | 4–6 days |
| Superbike (650cc+) | Quoted after we know the exact model | |
Where the money goes (commuter bike, mid-range quote of ₹6,050)
| Item | Approx. amount |
|---|---|
| Line-haul freight (Gurgaon to Ranchi) | ₹3,800 |
| Loading, strapping and standard wrap | ₹600 |
| Door pickup and door delivery | ₹750 |
| GST at 18% | ₹900 |
| Total | ₹6,050 |
What can push the price up or down
- Transit insurance: optional cover at 2.5% of what you declare, never below ₹300. Declare ₹1,00,000 and it comes to about ₹2,500 plus GST.
- Express delivery: costs roughly a quarter more on the transport charge and cuts the trip to 2–4 days.
- Difficult access: if the truck cannot reach your gate, a smaller vehicle for the last stretch may cost extra. Tell us the address up front.
- Waiting time: if the driver is kept waiting at pickup or delivery for hours, waiting charges can apply. Ask the policy before you book.
- Depot instead of door: if you collect from or drop at a transport hub, you save about ₹750 plus GST.
The price rises with distance, but not in a straight line. The first few hundred kilometres cost more per km than the rest, because loading, packing and paperwork are fixed. The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Gurgaon
A few minutes of checking can save you a lot. Here is what to confirm before paying anyone an advance.
- Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Ranchi delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
- Ask if the bike stays on one vehicle. Over 1,245 km, a transfer at a hub is where most damage and delay happen.
- Pay a company account. Get a receipt or invoice. Payments to personal numbers with no bill are hard to dispute later.
- Look at the insurance papers. Find out what is covered (theft, accident, loading damage), what you pay first, and whom to call if something goes wrong.
- Do not pay in full upfront. A small booking amount is fine. If someone asks for everything before pickup, that is a warning sign.
- Do a pickup inspection. Photos or a video of the bike from all sides, with the odometer reading, and a signed condition sheet.
- Check the company is real. Ask for the GST number, the registered office address and a landline or office you can visit or video call. Search the name with reviews.
- Plan the Ranchi delivery. Main Road and Albert Ekka Chowk have constant traffic, so we aim for early delivery.
List of Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Gurgaon to Ranchi (And When NOC Matters)
Most bike shipments from Gurgaon are held up by missing papers, not by the road. Here is what to keep ready for Ranchi, and the longer list is in our documents article.
Keep these ready
- RC (registration certificate): a copy goes with the bike; you keep the original. Gurgaon bikes carry an HR-26 plate, though many local bikes are still on DL plates.
- Owner's ID proof: Aadhaar, driving licence or passport, with the name matching the RC.
- Address proof: for the pickup in Gurgaon and for the delivery in Ranchi. A rent agreement or utility bill works.
- Insurance copy: the current policy. Third-party cover is the minimum, and the policy should not be expired on the day of loading.
- Authority letter: if a friend, relative or the society staff hands over or receives the bike, with their ID attached.
- Loan papers: if the RC shows a bank under hypothecation, keep the lender's consent letter or NOC with you.
When NOC matters
An NOC is not needed just to put a bike on a carrier. It matters when the bike will live in Jharkhand for a long time. Under Section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act, a vehicle kept in another state for over 12 months has to be registered afresh there. For that you need a No Objection Certificate (Form 28) from the registering authority of the bike, normally the Gurugram RTO for an HR-26 plate or the Delhi RTO for a DL plate, and then you register with the RTO in Ranchi.
If the move is temporary, for a course or a short posting, you can usually keep the existing registration and skip the NOC. When in doubt, apply for the NOC before the bike leaves Gurgaon. Clear any pending challans first, since they can hold the application up. Owners who qualify for a BH series plate do not need re-registration at all.
Complete Step-By-Step Booking Process of Bike Transport from Gurgaon to Ranchi: Pickup To Delivery
This is how a normal booking runs. Our how it works page has more detail.
- Start with the form. Give your name, number and bike. If the bike is a Pulsar or Jupiter and the drop is near Kanke Road, mention it so the quote fits.
- Confirm the booking. Check the days and the price, then pay the booking amount. Keep the receipt; you will need it at delivery.
- Get the bike ready. Leave about a litre of petrol, take off bags and phone mounts, and wash it so existing marks are clear. Winter fog on the Uttar Pradesh stretch and monsoon flooding between July and September are the two seasons that stretch delivery dates.
- Pickup in Delhi NCR. The crew inspects the bike with you, photographs it, wraps and straps it, and gives you a signed condition sheet.
- Transit to Ranchi. Expect about 4–6 days on the road. You get the driver or coordinator number for updates.
- Delivery slot. The driver calls before arrival. Share the exact address, gate and a person who can sign.
- Receive the bike. Walk around it with the pickup photos in hand. Sign only after you are satisfied, and keep your copy of the sheet.
In Ranchi we usually deliver to Kanke Road, Lalpur, Harmu, Morabadi, Doranda and Bariatu. Main Road and Albert Ekka Chowk have constant traffic, so we aim for early delivery.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Transport Route from Gurgaon (And How You Avoid Them)
- Leaving the bike in the basement without a note. If the crew cannot reach it because of a locked bay or low clearance, the pickup is rescheduled. Bring the bike to the ground level the night before.
- Trusting a verbal promise. If the days or the price are not on paper, they are not a promise.
- Not checking who signs. Whoever signs at delivery accepts the bike as is, so have the right person there.
- Forgetting the second key. Hand over only one, and keep the other with you.
- A mistake specific to Ranchi. Skipping the monsoon buffer. Add a day in July and August for ghat-road delays.
- Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include Kanke Road, Lalpur, Harmu, Morabadi, Doranda and Bariatu. Main Road and Albert Ekka Chowk have constant traffic, so we aim for early delivery.
