Gurgaon To Chennai Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies
Chennai is not on the direct line from Gurgaon the way Mumbai is. The truck goes south through central India first and only then swings east, so expect this route to run slightly longer than the kilometre count suggests.
This is a long one: about 2,165 km and 6–8 days on the road. Anyone who quotes you less than a week for a haul this size should be asked, politely, how they plan to do it. The route normally follows NH44 down to Hyderabad or Bangalore and then the Chennai highways, which makes it one of the longest hauls on our list.
| Road distance | About 2,165 km |
|---|---|
| Standard transit | 6–8 days |
| Express transit | 4–6 days |
| Starting price (commuter bike) | ₹6,500 onwards |
| Pickup | Gurgaon and the rest of NCR (Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) |
| Delivery | Door delivery in Chennai and nearby areas |

Why the timing changes
Cyclones and heavy north-east monsoon rain between October and December can hold trucks up around Chennai. Outside that window the schedule is steady.
Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:
- How often carriers leave for Chennai. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
- Season. Rain on the west side from June to September and the north-east monsoon on the east coast from October to December slow trucks. Winter fog affects only the first day out of Gurgaon.
- Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from inside Gurgaon's sectors is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
- Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.
Pickup from Gurgaon: what to expect
Gurgaon has its own pickup routine. Gated societies, basement parking and RWA rules decide how smoothly a bike is collected, so we ask for the tower, the gate and a contact for the guard. Typical pickup points for Chennai bookings are South City, Nirvana Country, Manesar, Sector 82 and Sector 49.
Vehicles for Chennai usually leave Gurgaon through Faridabad and Palwal and join the Agra corridor, a little shorter than starting from Delhi. Evening jams at Signature Tower and Sohna Road mean the best loading slots are before 10 am.
If the bike is starting in Delhi rather than Gurgaon, see our Delhi to Chennai bike transport page, and for the home city see bike transport in Gurgaon.
How to shift my Bike from Gurgaon! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Gurgaon To Chennai
There are really only three options. Here is how each one works out on this route.
1. Door-to-door by covered carrier
This is the usual choice. The bike is packed at your door, travels in a closed vehicle and is brought to your Chennai address. Budget ₹6,500 to ₹8,950 for a commuter bike and 6–8 days of transit, and keep your phone on during the trip. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.
2. Railway parcel
On this distance, parcel trains involve more than one connection, and a bike left at a transfer station gets damaged more often than one on a single carrier. If you do try it, book a direct service where possible, and ask the parcel office at Chennai whether they take two-wheelers. More on that in our train vs truck guide.
3. Ride it yourself
2,165 km means 6 days of riding and 5 hotel nights. Fuel alone is about ₹4,550 for a commuter and about ₹6,850 for a 350cc bike. It is a real trip, not a relocation tool, and a long ride ages tyres, chain and brakes. Few people do it for a house move.

At this distance, a covered carrier is the only practical way to move the bike, unless you want an adventure. We handle everything from motorcycles and scooters to Royal Enfield and sports bikes.
Gurgaon To Chennai Bike Transport Costs in 2026: What You’re Really Paying For
No one should pay for a Gurgaon to Chennai bike move without seeing the full breakup, so here it is.
| Bike type | Price range (incl. GST) | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Scooter / moped (up to 125cc) | ₹6,000 – ₹7,900 | 6–8 days |
| Commuter bike (100–160cc) | ₹6,500 – ₹8,950 | 6–8 days |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser (350–650cc) | ₹7,800 – ₹10,950 | 6–8 days |
| Sports bike (300cc+) | ₹12,400 – ₹17,350 | 6–8 days |
| Superbike (650cc+) | Quoted after we know the exact model | |
Where the money goes (commuter bike, mid-range quote of ₹7,700)
| Item | Approx. amount |
|---|---|
| Line-haul freight (Gurgaon to Chennai) | ₹5,000 |
| Loading, strapping and standard wrap | ₹800 |
| Door pickup and door delivery | ₹750 |
| GST at 18% | ₹1,150 |
| Total | ₹7,700 |
Extras and adjustments
- Transit insurance: 2.5% of the declared value, with a minimum of ₹300. On a bike valued at ₹80,000 that is about ₹2,000, plus GST.
- Express delivery: costs roughly a quarter more on the transport charge and cuts the trip to 4–6 days.
- Depot instead of door: if you collect from or drop at a transport hub, you save about ₹750 plus GST.
- Premium wrap: adds about ₹900 for extra padding and a crate-style frame, worth it for a new or high-value bike.
- Waiting time: a driver held up for hours at either end may bill for the wait. Ask what the rule is before you book.
The price rises with distance, but not in a straight line. The first few hundred kilometres cost more per km than the rest, because loading, packing and paperwork are fixed. The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Gurgaon
Before any money moves for a Gurgaon to Chennai booking, go through these points. They apply to every company, including us.
- Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Chennai delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
- Ask if the bike stays on one vehicle. Over 2,165 km, a transfer at a hub is where most damage and delay happen.
- Check the company is real. Ask for the GST number, the registered office address and a landline or office you can visit or video call. Search the name with reviews.
- Do not pay in full upfront. A small booking amount is fine. If someone asks for everything before pickup, that is a warning sign.
- Pay a company account. Get a receipt or invoice. Payments to personal numbers with no bill are hard to dispute later.
- Look at the insurance papers. Find out what is covered (theft, accident, loading damage), what you pay first, and whom to call if something goes wrong.
- Prepare the bike. Keep fuel to about a litre, tape or disconnect the battery lead, remove loose accessories and keep one key with you. Our how to prepare your bike guide covers the rest.
- Plan the Chennai delivery. OMR has IT-park traffic through most of the day, so deliveries to Sholinganallur or Navalur are scheduled early morning.
List of Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Gurgaon to Chennai (And When NOC Matters)
You do not need a stack of paperwork to send a bike from Gurgaon. You need enough to show the bike is yours and legal to move. Our documents required for bike transport article has the long version; this is what matters on the Gurgaon to Chennai lane.
Keep these ready
- Insurance copy: the current policy. Third-party cover is the minimum, and the policy should not be expired on the day of loading.
- Authority letter: if a friend, relative or the society staff hands over or receives the bike, with their ID attached.
- Loan papers: if the RC shows a bank under hypothecation, keep the lender's consent letter or NOC with you.
- Phone numbers and landmarks: one contact in Gurgaon for the guard and one in Chennai for the driver.
- RC (registration certificate): a copy goes with the bike; you keep the original. Gurgaon bikes carry an HR-26 plate, though many local bikes are still on DL plates.
- Owner's ID proof: Aadhaar, driving licence or passport, with the name matching the RC.
When NOC matters
An NOC is not needed just to put a bike on a carrier. It matters when the bike will live in Tamil Nadu for a long time. Under Section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act, a vehicle kept in another state for over 12 months has to be registered afresh there. For that you need a No Objection Certificate (Form 28) from the registering authority of the bike, normally the Gurugram RTO for an HR-26 plate or the Delhi RTO for a DL plate, and then you register with the RTO in Chennai.
If the move is temporary, for a course or a short posting, you can usually keep the existing registration and skip the NOC. When in doubt, apply for the NOC before the bike leaves Gurgaon. Clear any pending challans first, since they can hold the application up. Owners who qualify for a BH series plate do not need re-registration at all.
Complete Step-By-Step Booking Process of Bike Transport from Gurgaon to Chennai: Pickup To Delivery
Here is the sequence on a typical booking. Our how it works page has more detail.
- Ask for a quote. Fill the form at the top of this page or call +91 96713 11891. Share the bike model, pickup area and the Chennai address.
- Read the quote. For 2,165 km it should show the total with GST, about 6–8 days on the road, and what is included. A commuter bike on this route starts near ₹6,500.
- Clear the bike. Remove the helmet lock gadgets, mirrors-mounted cameras and luggage. Keep one key and the RC with you.
- Pickup in Delhi NCR. The crew inspects the bike with you, photographs it, wraps and straps it, and gives you a signed condition sheet.
- Transit to Chennai. Expect about 6–8 days on the road. You get the driver or coordinator number for updates.
- Fix the delivery time. If you are in OMR or Velachery, tell the driver the society name and gate number, and who will be there.
- Receive the bike. Walk around it with the pickup photos in hand. Sign only after you are satisfied, and keep your copy of the sheet.
In Chennai we usually deliver to OMR, Velachery, Tambaram, Anna Nagar, Adyar and Porur. OMR has IT-park traffic through most of the day, so deliveries to Sholinganallur or Navalur are scheduled early morning.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Transport Route from Gurgaon (And How You Avoid Them)
- Leaving the bike in the basement without a note. If the crew cannot reach it because of a locked bay or low clearance, the pickup is rescheduled. Bring the bike to the ground level the night before.
- Leaving accessories on. Mirrors, GPS holders, saddlebags and phone mounts go missing or break. Take them off.
- Choosing only on price. A quote far below the others usually means a shared, transfer-heavy journey or missing insurance.
- Not checking who signs. Whoever signs at delivery accepts the bike as is, so have the right person there.
- A mistake specific to Chennai. Moving a bike in November without checking the weather outlook. If a cyclone alert is out, ask the carrier whether they will hold the vehicle at a safe hub instead of pushing ahead.
- Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include OMR, Velachery, Tambaram, Anna Nagar, Adyar and Porur. OMR has IT-park traffic through most of the day, so deliveries to Sholinganallur or Navalur are scheduled early morning.
