Delhi To Delhi Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies

A Delhi to Delhi booking is a move inside Delhi, the capital itself: a family changing house from Rohini to Dwarka, a bike going to a garage or storage, or a seller handing a bike to a buyer across the city. Distances are short, so what matters is the pickup slot and who is at each address.

By road it is about 25 km, but distance is the wrong thing to count here. Plan for 1 day: the bike is picked up, the carrier waits for Delhi's goods-vehicle timings, and delivery happens in the next convenient window. If you are used to long-haul quotes, this is a different kind of job. The route normally follows Ring Road, Outer Ring Road and colony roads, all inside the city.

Why the timing changes

Inside Delhi, time depends on traffic and on the rules for goods vehicles, which restrict many roads in the daytime. A morning booking can still end in an evening delivery.

Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:

  • How often a vehicle is available. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
  • Season. Dense fog between late December and January is the usual slowdown on this side of the country. Summers are hot but rarely change the schedule.
  • Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from Delhi proper is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
  • Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.

How to Ship my Bike! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Delhi To Delhi

There are really only three options. Here is how each one works out on this route.

1. Door-to-door by covered carrier

The crew comes to you, wraps the bike, ties it down inside a covered body, and delivers to your Delhi address. A commuter bike runs about ₹2,800 to ₹3,850, with a day or less on the road. You only need to be present at pickup and at delivery. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.

2. Railway parcel

Not worth considering at 25 km. Parcel booking, a tempo to the station and another from the station at the far end will cost nearly as much as a carrier, and you lose a day or two for nothing.

3. Ride it yourself, or hire a rider

For a bike that runs, this is the simple answer. Check the paperwork, fill the tank, and go. There is no state change involved, so the registration stays as it is. If the bike is not roadworthy, or it is a new bike without a number plate, book the carrier instead.

Short version: ride a healthy bike, and use a carrier for everything else. We handle everything from motorcycles and scooters to Royal Enfield and sports bikes.

Delhi To Delhi Bike Transport Costs: What You’re Really Paying For

Prices below are what most customers pay on this route. They are ranges because the same cc can mean different weight and handling, and because carriers price by the week's load.

Bike typePrice range (incl. GST)Delivery
Scooter / moped (up to 125cc)₹2,600 – ₹3,4001 day
Commuter bike (100–160cc)₹2,800 – ₹3,8501 day
Royal Enfield / cruiser (350–650cc)₹3,350 – ₹4,7001 day
Sports bike (300cc+)₹5,300 – ₹7,4501 day
Superbike (650cc+)Quoted after we know the exact model

Where the money goes (commuter bike, mid-range quote of ₹3,300)

ItemApprox. amount
Line-haul freight (Delhi to Delhi)₹1,750
Loading, strapping and standard wrap₹300
Door pickup and door delivery₹750
GST at 18%₹500
Total₹3,300

What can push the price up or down

  • Transit insurance: optional cover at 2.5% of what you declare, never below ₹300. Declare ₹1,00,000 and it comes to about ₹2,500 plus GST.
  • Express delivery: costs roughly a quarter more on the transport charge and cuts the trip to same day or next day.
  • Depot instead of door: if you can bring the bike to a hub or collect it from one, the ₹750 door charge and its GST drop off.
  • Premium wrap: adds about ₹900 for extra padding and a crate-style frame, worth it for a new or high-value bike.
  • Waiting time: if the driver is kept waiting at pickup or delivery for hours, waiting charges can apply. Ask the policy before you book.

At this distance the price is mostly fixed costs: loading, packing, paperwork and the vehicle. Kilometres hardly move it. For a quick estimate with your own bike type, try the bike transport cost calculator, or read our general bike transport charges page and the charges guide.

The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Delhi

A few minutes of checking can save you a lot. Here is what to confirm before paying anyone an advance.

  • Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Delhi delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
  • Ask who is actually carrying it. Short jobs are often handed to a local tempo. Make sure the vehicle is covered and the bike is strapped.
  • Pay a company account. Get a receipt or invoice. Payments to personal numbers with no bill are hard to dispute later.
  • Ask for a contact number for the trip. Someone should pick up the phone while your bike is on the road.
  • Do not pay in full upfront. A small booking amount is fine. If someone asks for everything before pickup, that is a warning sign.
  • Prepare the bike. Keep fuel to about a litre, tape or disconnect the battery lead, remove loose accessories and keep one key with you. Our how to prepare your bike guide covers the rest.
  • Look at the insurance papers. Find out what is covered (theft, accident, loading damage), what you pay first, and whom to call if something goes wrong.
  • Plan the Delhi delivery. Many Delhi societies allow goods vehicles only in set hours, and basement parking can limit what size vehicle can enter. Tell your RWA early.

Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Delhi to Delhi (And When NOC Matters)

For a move inside the city you need very little, because the bike stays on the same registration.

  • RC book or smart card: hand over a photocopy and keep the original yourself.
  • Valid insurance: a copy of the bike's current policy.
  • Authorisation letter: if someone other than the owner hands over or receives the bike, with their ID.
  • Contact details: a phone number and landmark for both Delhi and Delhi.
  • ID proof: Aadhaar, driving licence or passport of the owner.
  • Finance NOC: if the bike is on a loan (hypothecation), a letter from the bank or NBFC allowing the move.

When NOC matters

It does not. An NOC is needed only when a bike changes state. A Delhi to Delhi move keeps the DL registration, so there is nothing to transfer. If you change house permanently, update the address on the RC at the transport office after the move.

Carry the RC, your ID and the insurance copy, because traffic police and society guards often ask for them. If the bike is on a loan, tell the crew so the bank papers stay with you. For a full list, see our documents required for bike transport article.

Step-By-Step Booking Process of Bike Transport from Delhi to Delhi: Pickup To Delivery

Here is the sequence on a typical booking. Our how it works page has more detail.

  1. Send your details. The form above takes a minute. We need the bike model, whether it starts, and the two addresses: one in Karol Bagh or elsewhere in Delhi NCR, one in Delhi.
  2. Compare and confirm. You get a written quote with the days. Pay a small booking amount only after reading it.
  3. Clear the bike. Remove the helmet lock gadgets, mirrors-mounted cameras and luggage. Keep one key and the RC with you.
  4. Handover in Gurgaon Sector 56 or nearby. The crew walks around the bike with you, notes every mark, ties it down and hands you the condition sheet.
  5. While it travels. Keep your phone on. A delay from weather or a breakdown is reported to you, not hidden until the due date.
  6. Be reachable. The driver rings ahead. Have the gate pass or society permission ready so the vehicle is not turned away.
  7. Receive the bike. Walk around it with the pickup photos in hand. Sign only after you are satisfied, and keep your copy of the sheet.

In Delhi we usually deliver to Dwarka, Rohini, Saket, Laxmi Nagar, Janakpuri, Pitampura, Vasant Kunj and Mayur Vihar. Many Delhi societies allow goods vehicles only in set hours, and basement parking can limit what size vehicle can enter. Tell your RWA early.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Shipping Route (And How You Avoid Them)

  • Booking too late. Last-minute bookings get whatever vehicle is free, often at a higher rate. Book three to five days ahead on this route.
  • Leaving a full tank. Carriers can refuse a bike with lots of fuel. Keep about a litre.
  • Skipping the photos. Without pickup photos, a damage claim becomes your word against theirs.
  • A mistake specific to Delhi. Hiring a full carrier when the bike runs and the distance is under 30 km. A rider or a small pickup tempo can cost less. Ask for both prices.
  • Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include Dwarka, Rohini, Saket, Laxmi Nagar, Janakpuri, Pitampura, Vasant Kunj and Mayur Vihar. Many Delhi societies allow goods vehicles only in set hours, and basement parking can limit what size vehicle can enter. Tell your RWA early.

FAQ's About Bike Transport from Delhi to Delhi

Delhi to Delhi bike transport costs ₹2,600 to ₹3,400 for a scooter, ₹2,800 to ₹3,850 for a commuter bike, and ₹3,350 to ₹4,700 for a Royal Enfield, including packing, GST and door pickup and delivery. Insurance is extra.
Plan on 1 day for the 25 km trip to Delhi, or same day or next day with express. Weather and city entry timings are the usual reasons for a slip.
You need a copy of the RC, an ID proof, the insurance copy and, if someone else is handing over, an authorisation letter. A finance NOC is needed if the bike is on a loan. No RTO NOC is needed because the registration does not change.
Leave only about a litre. A full tank is a fire risk on a loaded vehicle, and many carriers will not accept it.
Transit insurance is optional and costs 2.5% of the declared value, with a minimum of ₹300. Ask for the policy copy before you pay.
Yes. Pickup covers all of Delhi NCR. Tell us the sector or society name when you request the quote.
Common reasons are a house shift, a bike that will not start, a new bike that has no number plate yet, a trip to a service centre or storage, and handing over a bike to a buyer in another part of the city.
Only a small booking amount, against a written quote. Pay the balance after the bike is delivered and you have checked it. Be careful with anyone who asks for the full amount before pickup.
